Living with rosacea

Firstly for those of you that don’t know rosacea is a skin condition that is mainly on your face. There are many different types of rosacea that all have different symptoms. It is very common condition that a lot of people get mildly. The cause is unknown but there are some “common” triggers (which seem to include everything under/ including the sun)! There is also a lack of research or things (that I have tried anyway) that actually help!

So for me the symptoms have been very red, blotchy skin, rashes, itchy as well as extremely sore and stinging when putting any sort of cream on. The condition will flare up and it is very difficult to notice trends to what causes it.

It has felt a bit helpless at times having seen four different dermatologists (private and nhs specialists) and ending up worse than ever! I’ve had several course of antibiotics and creams many of which have had no effect or even made it worse! Doctors have just seemed to pass me backwards and forwards to avoid giving me an appointment!

Currently I am trialling having no Maltodrextrin as research has shown this can cause skin irritation. Three weeks into this and my skin has been the best it’s been for some time so fingers crossed this may be a winner! I’ve always thought exercise has been my main trigger (as this is a published common trigger- getting hot and sweaty) so I’m yet to see how much better I can get my skin without the malto!

Fingers crossed for a more positive way forwards

(photos not really related but thought they were cute) xx
