Colchester crit 9th July

I was looking forward to this race as I really like the circuit, it’s a nice flowing circuit, a few bends but nothing sharp and no hills!

I knew the rider to watch at the beginning of the race, knowing she would go hard from the start and attack almost immediately. I was not wrong. I think it took all of one lap haha, I chased her down and the rest of the group came with me so we were back together. About 10 minutes into the race she went again so again I chased her down. We went round a bend and she flicked her elbow for me to take a turn, I was confused as I had assumed everyone would come with me again. I looked behind and we had a fairly decent gap.

We then had a 2up for the rest of the race! After about 25 minutes I was absolutely done knowing I had another 35 minutes of pain to come haha. We got a really good gap and thought we might actually lap the other riders however when they put up the 5 laps to go board they also said there would be a prime so we sat up in anticipation of the sprint.

After the sprint we continued at a decent pace but sat up again with a couple of lap to go, coming into the finish, the other rider decided to go early into the sprint launching a surprise attack so I had to chase her down. Overall, I was very happy and surprised to take the prime and sprint against such a strong rider. A race I was very pleased with! (all the pain paid off and even the chipped nail)!!!
